confessions of a modern mom

Yesterday was Super Bowl – Groundhog – Sun – Day

Yesterday was Super Bowl – Groundhog – Sun – Day

Did everyone have a fabulous day yesterday? I can NOT believe the insanely beautiful weather that miraculously happened to New Jersey yesterday. It was warm! It was beautiful! What a day for the Super Bowl! People got to ENJOY sitting in the only stadium in the North to host the Super Bowl that doesn’t have a dome…no frost bite…

On the other hand, the beautiful weather meant that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. Boy, he wasn’t kidding. We woke up this morning to a snowy winter wonderland outside our door and have been housebound all day. No school. The roads were only plowed at noon for the first time. It’s madness.

Here, I was all excited for a day to recover from hosting an epic, awesome Super Bowl party…Momma gets no break. The ladies were off from school and I had to chuck all my plans out the window. Trying to have a conference call while two little monkeys jump on top of me…not so easy. I bow down to those who work from home with children present. That is no easy feat.

Anyway, I want to share some highlights from our Super Bowl party. We had a ton of food and lots of fun…

I covered the dining table with butcher paper and turned it into a field using masking tape and a white permanent marker. Yup, cuz I don’t have anything better to do with my time, I tried to recreate the Super Bowl logo, freehand, in the end zone.

Not to be outdone by their mother, the girls decorated the coffee table with hand colored butcher paper. Who wins? You decide.

Salted caramel pie made by my incredibly talented friend Rachel Lohman – sinfully delicious. I ate more than half of that thing by myself. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life. Sensational.

Crack addicts, listen up. I have discovered something better and more addicting! These insane bread puddings were served warm so that chocolate oozed out. O. M. G. Rachel Lohman takes the cake with her desserts.

It was entirely too much food for the group we hosted, but we happily sent everyone home with takeout bags!
