confessions of a modern mom

It’s Moving Day!!!

Oh…my…goodness…Today we are moving from our one bedroom apartment in Chelsea to a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment in Lincoln Center. Wow, are we excited!

It’s always bittersweet when you make a big change. We will sorely miss our neighborhood. It is super kid-friendly, we know a ton of people and the surrounding restaurants, cafes, stores and amusements have kept us busy these last six years. In the past few days, I’ve been bidding adieu to all my old haunts and neighbors.

However…I’m super excited to have more space! Bella will FINALLY have her own room (with a princess bed, aka, a normal sized bed) and we will reclaim our lives outside the confines of our bedroom! No longer will Bella’s room also function as the living room, dining room and kitchen. Those are all separated in our new place!

Top things we’re excited for:

1) Not eating dinner in bed! We’ll be able to eat at the table ANY NIGHT!!! Plus, if I get a mid-night craving, I won’t have to worry about waking up the wee one. She’ll be tucked away in her room…

2) The ability to go to the bathroom as often as needed. I’m in the home stretch of this pregnancy…Need I say more??? Luckily, there is an en-suite bathroom in our bedroom in the new apartment. YIPPEE!!!

3) We’ll be a stone’s throw from Central Park. This will be a boon for us all. Zack and I used to take our dog, Jackie, to the park every morning when we lived on the Upper West Side. Hopefully, we’ll resume this tradition. Plus, Bella will have the biggest backyard EVER! Suburbs shmuburbs. No one can beat this grassy patch.

4) Our building is full-service. Doorman. Gym. Pool. Playroom. Roofdeck. Lounge. So excited to have everything we need within our “house” – especially since I’m giving birth in about a month. Since I have no idea what I’m in for with 2 kids, I’m glad that I won’t HAVE to travel far for basic things I need and want.  You see, my whale of a tail will be parked in the pool for the entire summer…

5) We’ll be much closer to our families. My in-laws have a place across the street. My brothers live 20 and 30 blocks north (respectively) of the new place. Sweet!

Top things I’m not looking forward to:

1) Unpacking. I hate it. I wish things would magically put themselves into place. I have a feeling this process may take me 3 months…

2) How will the changes affect Bella? I’m hoping she LOVES having her own room and a big girl bed and that we won’t have to re-sleep train her. Today will be a long day, guaranteed. I really don’t need a sleepless night tonight…

So, wish us luck! I’ll post pictues of Bella’s new room when it looks halfway decent! Have a wonderful weekend!
